A Little American CookbookWriting a small American cookbook is not easy because America is such a huge country with such a diverse cuisine. Almost all the recipes have evolved from the cultural backgrounds of the immigrant population. Chicken Gumbo, thought of as a soup, but much more like a stew, blends French, Spanish, Italian and African cooking. Tex-Mex Hot Chili combines both Texan and Mexican cooking while the Hamburger is just pure 100% American! For a true taste of America try Pecan Pie, Chocolate Chip Cookies and Brownies and to emulate old-fashioned southern aristocracy try a Mint Julep.
