Scottish Toast Master - Pocket GuideThe Scottish Toast Master celebrates a long-established custom in Scotland’s history. The ‘Grace Cup’ was introduced as a way of keeping the restless Scots at the table until Grace was pronounced. A cup of wine was passed round the table after ‘Grace’ and so a custom was born. The word toast is derived from the custom of floating toasted bread in wine during the eighteenth century. Guests proposing toasts to each other became something of an art form during this period and often became an excuse for intemperate drinking at parties! This fun little guide will steer you through the rules and provide an excellent excuse for a party to try these toasts and graces out for yourself! Photography and illustrations throughout.
